GoCampus is the mobile app students at Al Akhawayn University use to get around campus: class schedules, an interactive map, van schedules, density monitoring, and cash wallet refills, in one place.
Navigating university life as a new student was unnecessarily complicated. Class locations were scattered across a sprawling campus, schedules changed frequently, and essential information was fragmented across multiple platforms. Students wasted time and energy on logistics instead of learning.
7,000 cash-wallet refills, 1.3M MAD through the app. Payments are where a campus app stops being a convenience and starts being something people file complaints about. 99.75% crash-free on the release that carried it.
React Native across iOS and Android, one codebase for a campus where nobody is on the same device. Peak traffic hit 70 users per minute.
Surveys with 200+ students set the scope. Finding classrooms, tracking schedule changes, and getting at dining information came back as the top three, so those shipped first.
2,000 concurrent users on day one. Optimized the hot queries and cached aggressively once it was clear which endpoints were carrying the load.
