GoCampus is a comprehensive mobile application that revolutionized how students at Al Akhawayn University navigate campus life. From class schedules to campus maps, dining menus to event calendars, everything a student needs is now in their pocket.
Navigating university life as a new student was unnecessarily complicated. Class locations were scattered across a sprawling campus, schedules changed frequently, and essential information was fragmented across multiple platforms. Students wasted time and energy on logistics instead of learning.
Conducted surveys with 200+ students to identify pain points. The top issues were: finding classrooms, tracking schedule changes, and accessing dining information.
Built with React Native for cross-platform deployment. Implemented offline-first architecture so the app works even in areas with poor connectivity.
Integrated with university systems for live schedule updates. Push notifications alert students to room changes or cancellations.
Custom SVG-based campus maps with indoor navigation. Turn-by-turn directions to any classroom or facility.
University systems used legacy APIs with inconsistent data formats. Built a robust data pipeline to normalize and cache information.
Launch day saw 2,000 concurrent users. Had to quickly optimize database queries and implement aggressive caching.
